Children’s Ministry

Our New Life Providence nurseries cater to newborn babies through children age 3. Our infant nursery is specifically designed to suit the needs of newborns and crawlers. The rooms for one and two-year-olds rooms are set up to meet the needs of walkers and toddlers until they turn 3.

We love the babies of New Life and our community, and we strive to offer them the same commitment of excellence in training and care that is provided for kids in our other ministries. The nurseries are open during all services  (10 minutes before service starts) and are located in Kids Cove in Kempsville; Kids Creek at the Deep Creek campus; and Kids Clubhouse in Ghent.

All of our childcare workers are thoroughly screened volunteers who love working with little ones.  They embrace the opportunity to make your child’s first experiences at church wonderful!  Each campus has a preschool director who provides oversight and training for the volunteers.  Any questions can be directed to this director who can be contacted through the campus main number.

The New Life Providence Preschool works with kids ages 3-5 including Kindergarten. It is an exciting place to be! We have classes for scheduled services beginning 10 minutes before the service starts. These are located in the designated children’s area of each campus.

Preschool is a wonderful age to begin teaching the foundations of God’s Word, as kids are discovering the simple realities of the world He’s created.  During classes, the children participate in a Bible story, craft time, music, and sometimes on our wonderful playgrounds. This allows each child to learn and experience Biblical teachings in their learning style. We also provide a simple snack (animal crackers and diluted apple juice) and play time so kids can enjoy each other and make new friends. Our volunteer teams of thoroughly screened adults and youth have a sincere love for kids and consistently raise the standard in ministering to our preschoolers.  We are using Group’s Hands On Bible Curriculum in the classrooms at all of our campuses.

If you are a guest you can visit any of our classrooms or nurseries.  The doors are always open (with gates) so you can enjoy the fun going on inside and give your child a chance to see what to expect.  There are Children’s Ministry service coordinators at each campus who will be happy to show you around and answer your questions.

In order to provide a secure environment for everyone, only the scheduled workers are allowed in the nurseries and classrooms.  There is a simple check-in process to complete and parents can be easily notified if their child needs their attention.  All children are checked out of the rooms at the end of the services using the KidsCheck security system.

How do you volunteer to serve in Children’s Ministry? We would love to have you on our team!  We ask that you attend church at least six months before applying.  Applications are available at all of the kids check-in areas – Kids Cove, Kids Creek, and Kids Clubhouse – our three campuses.  Upon receiving your application, our staff will make the calls to check references and a national criminal history/sex offender background check will be completed.  Once this is accomplished we can discuss where, when and how often you would like to serve on our team.

The former Elementary Ministry is now Ablaze Kids Church. This new name reflects our heart’s desire to see a generation ignited to change their world and be strong witnesses for Christ in every environment of their lives…home, school. neighborhoods, sports teams, etc.  In format, we will be combining all grades 1st-5th together in a highly engaging, multi-media presentation of the Gospel. A team of staff and volunteers will excitedly greet and teach using curriculum that is designed to engage all types of learning styles. Ablaze Kids Church rooms will be themed and decorated to reflect the series that students are learning. Our themes will be fun and age-appropriate, and our message will always be rock solid, illustrating the purposes and promises of God for our children. Each curriculum series will last approximately 13 weeks.  New Life Providence Church takes ministering to children very seriously and we will be sending home information each week to partner with you as you continue the work at home of discipling your children. We also want our kids to be safe and secure, so policies and procedures are updated regularly.

What an exciting time to be a part of Ablaze Kids Church and passing on a legacy of faith to our children.  If you are interested in joining us in this amazing opportunity and want to be part of Ablaze Kids at Kempsville, Deep Creek, or Ghent campus, please contact the church campus office or email Elementary Ministry Director, Mike Harris
