The primary objective of the New Life Providence outreach ministry is to reach and disciple the unchurched in our community. We also partner with other ministries for joint outreach initiatives, like the Judeo Christian Outreach Center and Park Place United Methodist church, preparing and serving meals to the homeless and needy.
Pastor Melvin also ministers to the sick and shut-ins. In conjunction with the Life Enrichment Center (LEC), Providence family members have the opportunity to be trained for one-on-one evangelism, street witnessing, and ministry to those in nursing homes.
A goal of this church is to see every house in Tidewater hear the Gospel of Jesus Christ and know Him. We have been commissioned for the Great Commission in Matthew 28:19 – 20: “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age. Amen.”
Life Enrichment Center
An outreach ministry of New Life Providence, the Life Enrichment Center of Norfolk (LEC) opened in September 2003 under the direction of Pastor Kevin Turpin. The LEC seeks to provide educational, social, cultural, and spiritual enrichment to children, youth, and adults in underserved communities throughout Hampton Roads.
At-risk children, teens, and adults
Unemployed and under-employed
Programs at the LEC are conducted largely through volunteers, primarily from Providence. Individuals are needed on an on-going basis for mentoring or facilitating various programs. Training is provided.
For more information, check out the LEC’s website.
New Life Providence provides a food ministry to the community from our pantry facilities at the Deep Creek campus. We are open every fourth Saturday from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. Exact dates often vary during the holiday season.
Our goal is to minister to the whole person. Our food pantry program includes a full worship service in our Deep Creek chapel with worship, the Word, and prayer. We aim to cast a net of care into the community and draw them into a relationship with Jesus Christ.
A team of volunteers is needed to operate NetCasters’ Kitchen, both handling logistics of the food preparation and distribution and ministering in the worship service in many capacities.
Donations of non-perishable food are also needed on an ongoing basis. Containers for food donations are located at each campus.
As Jesus was walking beside the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon called Peter and his brother Andrew. They were casting a net into the lake, for they were fishermen. “Come, follow me,” Jesus said, “and I will send you out to fish for people.” Matthew 4:18-19
Kids Hope USA
Kids Hope USA is a national mentoring program designed to assist churches in forming partnerships with schools in their local area. Individuals from the church commit one hour each week to mentor an at-risk child for an entire school year.
Now in its eleventh year as a New Life Providence outreach, 80 individuals have dedicated themselves to successfully helping an elementary student during the current school year!
Interested individuals must complete a 3-hour training session and agree to a police background check. Learn more about how you can help train tomorrow’s leaders today. Contact Pastor Cheryl at 227.6930 or via e-mail.
